Video Installation / 5 Channels / 16:9 / Loop / 2017–2020
Landscapes examines the threshold at which moving images are perceived as static and how this perception is shaped by duration and attention.
Five large-scale video projections present landscape scenes that initially appear as still images. Only through extended observation do subtle movements emerge. Clouds shift slowly. Vegetation responds to wind. The image begins to unfold in time.
Each channel introduces a different variation of this perceptual instability. Some sequences maintain a contemplative stillness. Others disrupt it through sudden intrusions or temporal distortions. Acceleration and extreme deceleration alter the viewer’s sense of continuity.
The installation reflects on video as a medium that oscillates between photographic stillness and cinematic movement. In this context, the work addresses the historical relationship between painting and moving image. The landscape becomes a site where perception is negotiated and where the status of the image remains unresolved.
