Immersive Experience & Interactive Installation | since 2021
Terra Media is an interdisciplinary mixed-reality project developed within the research cluster Digital Simulation. Situated at the intersection of media art, cinematic storytelling, and interactive technology, the project explores how narrative environments can emerge in immersive media and how digital simulation reshapes traditional storytelling structures. The project is developed within the artist collective multicArts. It combines live-action film material, generative 3D environments, and spatial interaction to create walkable narrative spaces. Visitors move through environments where moving images, virtual simulation, and physical presence interact and influence each other. The work approaches storytelling as a spatial and participatory process, where perception, movement, and narrative gradually unfold together.
My artistic research contribution to Terra Media is the immersive scenario Bülbül. The word Bülbül, meaning nightingale in Kazakh, refers to a recurring motif in Central Asian folklore. Stories of transformation, voice, and captivity form the narrative starting point for the installation and guide its visual and spatial language.
The work takes place inside a 360° immersive environment inspired by the architecture of a traditional yurt. The space appears as a digitally simulated interior formed by moving images, generative ornament structures, and a responsive soundscape. Through real-time tracking, the audiovisual environment reacts to the movements of the visitors. Their presence gradually shapes the atmosphere of the space and influences how the narrative unfolds.
Within this setting, Bülbül investigates digital simulation as an aesthetic infrastructure. The immersive environment becomes a space where encounters with unfamiliar perspectives can be experienced physically and spatially. Folkloric imagery, digital textures, and responsive environments merge into a narrative landscape that reflects on voice, empathy, and cultural memory within technologically mediated environments.
